The procedure entry point apsGetInterfaceCount could not be located in the dynamic link library wlanapi.dll
Okay so today ive installed the new Windows Serivce Pack 3 and then after reboot i noticed i do not have internet workng and i see such errors:
and
The procedure entry point apsInitialize could not be located in the dynamic link library wlanapi.dll
The solution is hopefully preety easy but not easy to find on forums because people write there a lot of not usefull things. Of course Glowicki blogging tips gives best and easiest solution as usual so Yopur D-link adapter will work properly under Windows.
1. It doesnt matter which D-link adapter You use. Dont waste time seeking for new drivers either.
2. Download this file which is pre SP3 driver compatible with all D-Link versions. It is a wlanapi.dll wlanapi.dll to fix Service Pack 3 D-Link problems
3. Go to directory of system32 in Windows and check version of wlanpi.dll now open in it notepad and modify this lines:
%&()XM)@var WIndows…. naa just kidding.. solution is way easier. It is just funny to read what people write on this forums. I even saw solutions of uninstalling whole Windows Serivce Pack 3. Anyways skip this point.
4. Copy the downloaded of Glowicki Problogger site wlan.dll to this folders:
- ProgramFilesD-LinkAirPlus G
- ProgramFilesANIANIWZCS
5. Restart computer and enjoy internet like before.
If i helped anyone would be nice if You holla in comments as usual!

Thanks for the wlanapi.dll fix after XP SP3 – a simple, elegant and effective way around the problem. Great stuff.

Thanks for the wlanapi.dll fix after XP SP3
November 30th, 2008 at 9:19 am
thankyou for your straight forward steps. this only got rid of the apsInitialize error message for me.
Do you have an idea how to get rid of the other one, apsGetInterface?
December 3rd, 2008 at 4:19 pm
You are my Master!!
it works!!
December 12th, 2008 at 7:21 am
Thank you so much for the quick easy fix!!
December 14th, 2008 at 3:30 pm
Thanks a lot ! Your explanation was very effective !
December 22nd, 2008 at 6:51 am
It works! Slick & simple, ‘cept for the notepad edit part
Although people may find it beneficial to hold the “Any” key while copying the dll. While it doesn’t really help, unlike a Windows update, it’s mostly harmless!
Many Thanx!
December 26th, 2008 at 8:28 pm
Thanks, it seemed all ok when suddenly a blue screen appeared wiht the following error:
DRIVER _IRQ_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
By the way, the folder to copy the downloaded file, in my computer is called:
- ProgramFiles\ANI\ANIWZCS2 service (I wonder if it could affect or not)
December 29th, 2008 at 9:49 am
Elute what system are You running? This is a bit strange because dirs should be named like i said. I suggest reinstalling D-link with newest drivers and then using the method here. Its 100% working!
December 30th, 2008 at 4:55 pm
thank you very much
it works now
December 31st, 2008 at 3:57 am
Thx a lot man
January 2nd, 2009 at 12:45 pm
Thanks, this worked great. I have DWL-G630 Rev D card and D-Link site only has updated Rev E drivers, so this saved me from a lot of aggravation. By the way, weird directory names were in this version of D-Link as well. The folders I stored your dll into were:
- ProgramFiles\D-Link\AirPlus G
- ProgramFiles\ANI\ANIO Service
- ProgramFiles\ANI\ANIWZCS2 Service
Everything working OK so far.

[...] of forums, I found there was a very quick and easy solution to the error messages at this site: The procedure entry point apsGetInterfaceCount could not be located in the dynamic link library wlan… It solved the problem, but it’s suspiciously straightforward. I guess I’ll have to wait and see if [...]

It’s so hard to find good solutions.

February 15th, 2009 at 12:41 pm
D-Link Air G520 with 3 months of 2 error messages (ANIWZCS2 & WLANAPI.DLL) without connection. Ready to formatt thinking on some virus or trojan or missing file windows, tried with new updated driver but couldn’t get off those annoying error messages, googled the errors on last try, & find yours among many others more complex. Yours solution very easy and useful. Only problem need always installing drivers and file without hardware PCI wireless adapter, unpluged. I’ve got connected again! without having to formatt and reinstall new XP and else! Thanks!!!

March 1st, 2009 at 12:56 pm
Thanks, worked for me too.
March 1st, 2009 at 11:43 pm
It worked. At startup, I was getting entry not found in wlanapi for both apsGetInterfaceCount (from AirGCFG.exe) and apsInitialize (from WZCSLDR2.exe). I stored your dll into:
- ProgramFiles\D-Link\AirPlus G
- ProgramFiles\ANI\ANIWZCS2 Service
But not in
- ProgramFiles\ANI\ANIO Service.
and both “entry point not located in wlanapi” messages stopped showing up thereafter. Thanks.

April 4th, 2009 at 1:48 pm
I was hoping that my problem with apsGetInterfaceCount (from AirGCFG.exe) and apsInitialize (from WZCSLDR2.exe) would be solved, but they aren’t. I did all you wrote in your instructions but the anoying message still appears on my desktop. And I still don’t know why.
April 7th, 2009 at 10:39 pm

April 28th, 2009 at 9:50 pm
Hey Bro, sorry but can it be that you would have to change the files extention? I mean i have downloaded an *.exe file and not an *.dll would be really nice to know…
But hey thanks for this anyway nice to see that it worked for so much already.
Greetings

Dear Friend,
Your help was just so fantastic — so very good. For months and months I would get the following messages on my computer screen when starting up: “AirGCFG.exe – Entry Point Not Found” and “WZCSLDR2.exe – Entry Point Not Found” I didn’t know what to do! I was just stuck. Well, yesterday I stumbled onto your wonderful Website — and now the problem has been solved!!! I am so grateful for your kind advice and your going to the trouble of sharing it with the public. May God bless your service to people. Alex and Eva Peck (writing from Brisbane, Australia)
May 8th, 2009 at 2:38 am
Thanks for that — it’s been nagging me for months. Tried Microsoft, but after being on hold for ages, the line dropped out when the tech came on the phone.
No more WZCSLDR2.exe – Entry Point Not Found message because of SP3 crunching up the D-Link DLL!
jjj

Quote”The procedure entry point apsGetInterfaceCount could not be located in the dynamic link library wlanapi.dll”
I was experiencing the same thing on my system. I am running Windows 7. Figured even though fix was designed for earlier version operating system I would try procedure and see what happens. I worked perfect!
I did notice on mine for the file location ProgramFiles\ANI\ANIWZCS mine was ProgramFiles\ANI\ANIWZCS2 it had a 2 added to the end. Still worked great on Windows 7 operation system.
Thank you for this fix,
Dman

Thanx for the info. The 1st part did not work for me because there was no ProgramFiles\D-Link\AirPlus G. The 2nd part worked great! I did fix the 1st part however by replacing it with the NetProp.dll file. No more errors and everything is working fine.
December 12th, 2009 at 12:10 pm

The first one disapp, working on the second… Thanks
March 29th, 2010 at 3:31 am
This was information to eliminate the error message was absolutely spot on. I wasted money on All-in-One PC Tune-Up – fortunately I got a huge rebate. I’ve put in at least twelve hours trying different fixes with no success. I’d buy you a beer but the PayPal was in a foreign language that I couldn’t be comfortable using.
Thanks a million!
March 29th, 2010 at 7:57 am
oh thanx for info i didnt know the button was in other language. now its fixed an u see english there from start.
im happy i helped u all and im really happy some of u actually bought me a beer
thats not much for life saving right?
March 30th, 2010 at 4:38 am
I’m afraid I may have been overzealous in my praise. Today when I log onto mt computer none of my start icons or tool bar show – no task are running, and nothing happens when I right click on the desktop.
What do you think happened?
March 30th, 2010 at 7:55 am
this is for 100% not connected to d-link issue – if the tip wouldnt work in worst case u would still not have internet.
i assume while ‘trying to fix’ before finding my site u must have changed some setups [maybe turned off firewall or windows updates] and now when u got internet back something other failed.
try uninstalling All-in-One PC Tune-Up and fixing what it did
April 2nd, 2010 at 4:22 am
I delayed install of Service Pack 3 due to the errors that were coming up but they are now gone thanks to the work you have done on this blog. Thanks very much, Craig (Brisbane, Australia).
April 18th, 2010 at 6:32 pm
hallo ,
thanks a million and for people like you, think you should charge Mr. Bill Gates for fixing his errors!!!\vista must have cost the world millions let alone all the blue screens, and they seem to be back and build into win7, with wasted time world wide. it is a disaster..
Anycase thanks
