The procedure entry point apsGetInterfaceCount could not be located in the dynamic link library wlanapi.dll

Okay so today ive installed the new Windows Serivce Pack 3 and then after reboot i noticed i do not have internet workng and i see such errors:

The procedure entry point apsGetInterfaceCount could not be located in the dynamic link library wlanapi.dll

The procedure entry point apsInitialize could not be located in the dynamic link library wlanapi.dll

The solution is hopefully preety easy but not easy to find on forums because people write there a lot of not usefull things. Of course Glowicki blogging tips gives best and easiest solution as usual so Yopur D-link adapter will work properly under Windows.

1. It doesnt matter which D-link adapter You use. Dont waste time seeking for new drivers either.

2. Download this file which is pre SP3 driver compatible with all D-Link versions. It is a wlanapi.dll wlanapi.dll to fix Service Pack 3 D-Link problems

3. Go to directory of system32 in Windows and check version of wlanpi.dll now open in it notepad and modify this lines:

%&()XM)@var WIndows…. naa just kidding.. solution is way easier. It is just funny to read what people write on this forums. I even saw solutions of uninstalling whole Windows Serivce Pack 3. Anyways skip this point.

4. Copy the downloaded of Glowicki Problogger site wlan.dll to this folders:

– ProgramFiles\D-Link\AirPlus G

– ProgramFiles\ANI\ANIWZCS

5. Restart computer and enjoy internet like before.

If i helped anyone would be nice if You holla in comments as usual!

Helped? Donate for my coffee!

I was experiencing the same thing on my system. I am running Windows 7. Figured even though fix was designed for earlier version operating system I would try procedure and see what happens. I worked perfect!
I did notice on mine for the file location ProgramFiles\ANI\ANIWZCS mine was ProgramFiles\ANI\ANIWZCS2 it had a 2 added to the end. Still worked great on Windows 7 operation system.
    Thank you for this fix,

Thanx for the info. The 1st part did not work for me because there was no ProgramFiles\D-Link\AirPlus G. The 2nd part worked great! I did fix the 1st part however by replacing it with the NetProp.dll file. No more errors and everything is working fine.

Thanks so much for your solution to the problem with the D-Link Adapter. It sure was the easiest and fastest solution. You sure know what you are doing, which is more than I can say from other entries on some forums.

  14. Tim

Awesome fix – the errors went away. Similar to an above comment, the ANI directory I copied the wlanapi.dll to was

    C:\Program Files\ANI\ANIWZCS2 Service

    Thanks again.

  15. milo

Thanks for the easy steps to resolving this issue, which has plagued so many of us, who have taken the opportunity to upgrade to ‘Service Pack 3,’ good looking out man!

  18. Janne

The first one disapp, working on the second… Thanks

This was information to eliminate the error message was absolutely spot on. I wasted money on All-in-One PC Tune-Up – fortunately I got a huge rebate. I’ve put in at least twelve hours trying different fixes with no success. I’d buy you a beer but the PayPal was in a foreign language that I couldn’t be comfortable using.
    Thanks a million!

  20. admin

oh thanx for info i didnt know the button was in other language. now its fixed an u see english there from start.

im happy i helped u all and im really happy some of u actually bought me a beer
thats not much for life saving right? πŸ˜‰

I’m afraid I may have been overzealous in my praise. Today when I log onto mt computer none of my start icons or tool bar show – no task are running, and nothing happens when I right click on the desktop.

    What do you think happened?

  22. admin

this is for 100% not connected to d-link issue – if the tip wouldnt work in worst case u would still not have internet.

i assume while ‘trying to fix’ before finding my site u must have changed some setups [maybe turned off firewall or windows updates] and now when u got internet back something other failed.

try uninstalling All-in-One PC Tune-Up and fixing what it did

  23. Craig

I delayed install of Service Pack 3 due to the errors that were coming up but they are now gone thanks to the work you have done on this blog. Thanks very much, Craig (Brisbane, Australia).

  24. thys

    hallo ,
thanks a million and for people like you, think you should charge Mr. Bill Gates for fixing his errors!!!\vista must have cost the world millions let alone all the blue screens, and they seem to be back and build into win7, with wasted time world wide. it is a disaster..

    Anycase thanks

  25. Eagle

I don’t have either of the files i am supposed to put the dll file in.
    Mine are:
    ANI\ANIO Service
    ANI\ANIWZCS2 Service
    D-Link\Wireless G WUA-1340

    Any other ideas?

  26. Peter

I had the different ANI folders, as mentioned earlier, and I put the file in both of them. This made both of the error messages go away, but I still can’t open the D-Link program. Help?

  32. Lightcanoe

It worked great. The files were ANI/ANIWZCS2 and D-Link/AirPlus XtremeG on my disc.

Error messages go away, but I still can’t open the D-Link program. The process seems to launch (it does appear in Task Manager) but the application remains dormant.
